I grew up in a diverse cultural environment, the daughter of a first generation Chilean
immigrant. The unexpected blessing of having my daughter at 19 years old caused my
life to shift from what I had planned, and I ended up attending community college
followed by state schools to earn both a Master's and PhD in mathematics.

My main goal as an educator is to help my students engage with math and each other
in the classroom. I acknowledge that many students have a history of traumatic experiences
with math, so I want to make my classroom a fun, comfortable place of learning.

I enjoy playing all types of games: table top board games, card games, Nintendo Switch
games, etc. I also enjoy meal planning and cooking complicated recipes.
